  2021-07-26

Sheng Ye Capital Limited (HKEx: 6069) announced that a team of the Company’s volunteers, Sheng Ye Light (“SY Light”) went to Ganzi, Sichuan Province to participate in the 2021 “Angel Beats” charity initiative in Ganzi, Sichuan. Sheng Ye Capital has taken practical actions to devote itself to public welfare and encourages employees to participate in various charity activities. Subsequent to SY Capital’s participation in EGG Walkathon in May and the Youth Camp Charity event in Guizhou Province in July, SY participated in the “Angel Beats” charity initiative, which is a volunteer activity that focusses on screening, surgical fee support, post-operative care and donation of standing medication for diseases such as congenital heart disease, cataracts, scoliosis and cleft lip and palate.

In order to prevent individuals with congenital heart disease, cleft lip and palate, scoliosis and cataracts in Ganzi from missing the best opportunity for treatment due to information blockage or poverty, SY Capital, as a joint charity partner, together with local government and charity organizations, took part in the “Angel Beats” initiative to provide free medical and surgical treatment across the county. Patients with congenital heart disease, cleft lip and palate, scoliosis, and cataracts who are diagnosed through this initiative will obtain financial support for their surgery costs. SY Capital has been involved in “Angel Beats” since 2016 and has delivered outstanding efforts in the screening, prevention, treatment and postoperative care for children with congenital heart disease. SY Capital has donated more than RMB 1.4 million, and screened tens of thousands of children for the disease, helping them with advanced treatment based on their physical and medical conditions.

Since launch, the "Angel Beats" initiative has cooperated with more than 20 authoritative medical institutions to offer free screening for over 1 million children of a specified age and has helped more than 1,000 under-privileged children with congenital heart disease to regain lives. The initiative has been extended to 16 provinces and autonomous regions nationwide, truly relieving affected families from poverty due to the illness.

On July 22, the “SY Light” team arrived at the screening site in Ganzi County, Sichuan Province, where the “Angel Beats” initiative free charity clinic will be held.

“SY Light” team arrived at Ganzi after a long journey

At 8 a.m. on July 23, a group of parents, children and elderlies have already gathered at Ganzi County People's Hospital to attend the free charity clinic.

The “SY Light” team quickly got in gear - clarified roles and divided tasks. They were well co-ordinated, guiding people at the check-in desk to queue and fill out forms in an orderly manner, responding to enquiries, assisting in triage, and directing people to the designated screening site, etc.

Cute children came for screening - we wish them good health and well.

Before this activity, a clothing donation campaign was conducted among colleagues of SY Capital, representing colleagues’ care for people. On the morning of July 24, the "SY Light" team delivered the clothes collected to the local people in need.

In addition, school bags and stationery from SY Capital were delivered to children of the visited families.

Members of the “SY Light” team were grateful to have participated in this charity activity and have found it a rewarding experience. Let’s hear what they have to say.

Miya from Platform Operation Department:

"This was the first time I participated in a field charity activity, which was an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. Summing it up in 2 words:

1.      Thankful: I would like to thank the Company for providing such an opportunity for me to take part. SY Capital is not a company that just provides a job opportunity, but is also a company that has a sense of social responsibility, which also drives its employees to develop a good sense of social responsibility.

2.      Touching: It was very touching that a group of people from different locations, ages and professions came together so quickly to form a strong team and accomplished something meaningful. I was touched by the kindness and gratitude that came from the eyes of the Tibetan people, despite the language barrier. What touched me most was that fellow members of the SY Capital team have developed from not knowing each other, to taking care of and helping each other, and sharing a common belief to accomplish a mission, thus overcoming the environmental difficulties to complete the task. It was both a physically and spiritually cleansing journey. The entire process was mentally enjoyable albeit physically challenging.

Diane from Human Resources Department:

“It was my first time participating in such a large-scale charity initiative with people from different backgrounds from all walks of life, and I felt a lot of emotions. Coming to Ganzi, we assisted doctors to screen local children and residents for congenital heart disease, scoliosis, cataracts and other highly prevalent diseases. Seeing them suffer from the illnesses first hand but deprived of proper treatment, we wanted to help and improve their medical conditions and livelihood. The power of an individual is minute, but such organization and activities have brought different people together to do what we can and offer essential help. We believe that we can do more to help them, and these activities can create a bigger impact and coordinate more resources to help them further. Meanwhile, I have also learned to be grateful for my life, and life is better when you are passionate about it.”

Jaime from Asset Management Department:

“On July 22, I was honored to arrive in Ganzi via Chengdu, escorted by 4 female colleagues, to participate in the Company’s charity activity for screening children with congenital heart disease. When I left the terminal building, I was enchanted by the blue sky, white clouds and the simple smile of local residents in Ganzi. On the night when I arrived, my colleagues and I had no time to respond to the plateau reaction, but pulled our tired bodies to the hospital to set up the site. Early the following morning, the group rushed to the clinic to assist the volunteer doctors in screening for congenital heart disease. During the day of volunteer work, I had the privilege to witness our delicate female colleagues competently and efficiently completed the ad hoc tasks assigned to them, and saw the optimism and perseverance in the eyes of the children who were suffering from poverty and their illnesses.

On July 24, we came to the County Health Center. The director of the center took us to see the substandard medical and health conditions in the area. We personally distributed the clothes and toys donated by our colleagues to the local villagers, who did not speak Mandarin, yet kept reiterating "thank you" to us. That night, when the county quietened down, and the charity trip was about to finish, I looked out of the window and couldn’t keep calm. I could not thank the Company enough for organizing this charity activity, letting these children and their families in poverty stricken areas see the hope brought by “SY Light”, while allowing me to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and obtain some peace and quiet to reflect on life.”

Adele from Industry Finance Department:

“We woke up at five o'clock in the morning to catch the plane, and finally arrived at our destination, Ganzi County after thirteen hours. Just after getting off the plane, we didn't even have time to enjoy the blue sky and white clouds out there, before being hit with altitude sickness which brought me tightness in the chest and dizziness, and I wasn't alone! We downed a bottle of Rhodiola at the airport to keep going (but was later told that it had to be taken beforehand to be effective.)

We started the volunteer activity today:

Early in the morning, we kicked off the charity activity organized by Handpicked Love Foundation. I was assigned to conduct screening with Director Zhang from Shenzhen Children's Hospital, for children with congenital heart disease, cleft lip and palate and scoliosis. The patients who came to the clinic eagerly waited in a queue for the doctor's examination. They always expressed their trust and reliance with a sincere smile and eye contact, despite the lack of a common language. When they left, they would say "thank you" to us in their unskilled Mandarin.

Today, the volunteer team screened a total of 320 people in Ganzi and identified 41 patients who needed surgery. The Foundation will then follow up with these patients to address their most pressing needs for treatment. I am honored to have the opportunity to participate in this screening activity, which allows me to take part in charity and truly experience the power when many individuals gather together to inspire and provide hope for others!”

SY Capital is always committed to charity, and will continue to care for people who are in need of surgical treatment under this charity initiative and assist. Meanwhile SY Capital will also actively participate in more public welfare activities and continue to give back to society through practical actions.
