On March 25, 23 children with congenital heart disease from Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province arrived at TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital (hereinafter referred to as TEDA Hospital) in Tianjin to prepare for surgery. These children were among 611 patients screened during SY Foundation's free medical camp "SY Light, Children's Bright Future" held earlier in Qinghai, and were identified as meeting the surgical criteria. SY volunteers accompanied the children and their parents through hospital admission procedures, inquired about their conditions, and presented them with toiletry gift sets. Starting from March 26, the children began undergoing surgeries in sequence, with SY Foundation covering partial surgical expenses for some patients.
On April 2, SY Foundation's Party branch collaborated with Dongjiang Party Committee for a joint Party building activity - "Spring Breeze Brings Warmth, Shared Mountain-Sea Bond" congenital heart disease children's care event. Attendees including Zeng Jia, Deputy Secretary of Tianjin Dongjiang Free Trade Port Zone Party Committee, Wu Weiqiang, Deputy Director of Dongjiang Party Construction Department, An Shaolu, Vice President of TEDA Hospital, Cao Juan, Director of TEDA Hospital's Love Office, SY Vice Chairman Chen Renze, SY Foundation Chairperson Wu Na, and SY Foundation Party representative Dong Zhongning visited postoperative patients. They inquired in detail about the children's conditions and recovery progress while delivering care packages and expressing wishes for their speedy recovery.
"I won't make Dad worry about me anymore after I recover"
Twelve-year-old Tibetan girl Xiaoji was diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus during a physical examination two years ago. Due to financial constraints, she never received treatment until this free surgical opportunity arrived. While feeling fortunate, she admitted being scared: "My father drives trucks and is often away from home. He constantly worries about my condition, asking if I feel unwell during every phone call. Though I'm afraid surgery might hurt, curing my disease means Dad won't need to worry anymore - that's why I must be brave."
"With my child's surgery completed, my anxiety is relieved, and our family's burden lightened. We're deeply grateful for everyone's care and assistance," expressed one parent with heartfelt simplicity.
Over approximately ten days, all children successfully completed their surgeries at TEDA Hospital. While some patients have already been discharged and begun their journey home, others will follow suit shortly.
SY Charity Foundation has sustained years of congenital heart disease screening and surgical assistance programs, providing children with quality medical resources and streamlined treatment environments to regain "new" lives. By December 2023, SY Foundation had supported 141 affected children. Behind each child lies not just personal dreams but entire families' hopes. Moving forward, SY Foundation remains committed to safeguarding more congenital heart disease children's healthy development, continuing to awaken "heartfelt" warmth and vitality.
