Passing Warmth, Starting from "Heart" | SY Public Welfare Foundation Goes to Leiyang City, Hunan Province to Carry out "Angel's Heartbeat" Joint Charity Charity Practice Free Clinic Screening Activity

2024-05-11

On April 23, the SY Public Welfare Foundation partnered with the Leiyang Municipal Party Committee and Government, China Charity Federation·Colorful Love Fund, Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, Leiyang Health Bureau, and Leiyang People's Hospital to jointly organize the "Angel's Heartbeat" public welfare medical screening event in Leiyang City, Hunan Province. The initiative provided free diagnostic services for children with congenital heart disease and cleft lip/palate conditions.

The SY Charitable Foundation has launched its "Angel's Heartbeat" program in Leiyang City, Hunan Province, partnering with local government and nonprofit organizations to conduct free medical screenings at Leiyang People's Hospital, with the dual objectives of expanding healthcare coverage for children aged 0-18 suffering from congenital heart disease (CHD) and cleft lip/palate conditions, while addressing treatment accessibility challenges faced by underprivileged families. This comprehensive initiative ensures early detection, diagnosis and intervention for pediatric patients, prevents missed treatment opportunities caused by information gaps or limited medical resources, and provides full surgical funding through the SY Charitable Foundation for all confirmed and qualified cases of CHD and cleft lip/palate identified during the screening process.

During the event day, volunteers from the SY Public Welfare Foundation arrived at Leiyang People's Hospital to assist with the activities. Working in coordinated teams, they actively helped facilitate orderly on-site medical examinations. The free clinic service provided screening for congenital heart disease, cleft lip/palate and other conditions to 27 age-eligible children. Following medical evaluations, 6 children were identified as requiring surgical intervention. In the next phase, the SY Public Welfare Foundation will provide full funding for free surgical treatment to all confirmed cases meeting the operative criteria.

Following the medical outreach initiative, volunteers from SY Public Welfare Foundation conducted a follow-up visit to the family of one child identified during the screenings as requiring surgical treatment, where they were warmly received by the household.

This young girl, Tongtong, was diagnosed with congenital heart disease at birth. Her mother tragically passed away in a traffic accident several years ago, leaving her in the care of her father, now in his sixties. As the sole breadwinner without stable employment or pension, Tongtong's father relies primarily on meager income from her elder sister. Due to these dire financial circumstances, Tongtong's condition has remained untreated until now.

When we entered Tongtong's home, we were met with dilapidated walls and a sparsely furnished living space where even a proper study desk was nowhere to be found. Despite the family's dire financial situation, 8-year-old Tongtong radiated remarkable optimism - her cheerful spirit and passion for life profoundly moved our team. With bright enthusiasm, she proudly showed us her colorful drawings and academic achievement certificates, each piece vividly demonstrating her artistic talent and unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

The cost of surgical treatment had placed immense financial strain on Tongtong's family. When learning that the SY Public Welfare Foundation would fully cover her medical expenses, her father became visibly emotional. Clutching our hands tightly, he repeatedly expressed profound gratitude, his voice trembling as he marveled at this unexpected blessing that had resolved their most pressing crisis.

SY Public Welfare Foundation will soon arrange for the six children diagnosed with congenital heart disease during the screening to receive surgical treatment at Hunan Provincial People's Hospital, with all medical expenses covered by the foundation. Post-surgery, the foundation will maintain close follow-up monitoring of their recovery progress. Through this initiative, SY Public Welfare Foundation aims to provide these children with a renewed chance at healthy lives while bringing hope and joy to their families, enabling them to grow up carefree.

SY Public Welfare Foundation, established by SY (Stock Code: 6069.HK), concentrates its philanthropic efforts on three key areas: Supporting Vulnerable Children, Rural Revitalization Assistance, and Youth Empowerment Programs. With a multi-year track record of impactful work, the foundation has consistently provided comprehensive support - including screening, treatment, and post-operative care - for children with congenital heart disease (CHD), while facilitating advanced, personalized medical interventions tailored to each child's specific condition.

Moving forward, the foundation reaffirms its dual commitment to expanding support for CHD-affected children and safeguarding more "Angel's Heartbeats" through ongoing medical and social care initiatives that address both immediate treatment needs and long-term wellbeing.
