To address the challenges faced by children from underprivileged families in Qinghai Province and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in accessing medical care for congenital heart disease (CHD), and to achieve early detection, diagnosis, and treatment—preventing missed opportunities for timely intervention due to lack of information or medical resources
Recently, the SY Public Welfare Foundation partnered with the medical team from TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital in Tianjin to conduct the "Shengye Light · Childlike Brightness" CHD screening and assistance campaign in Jianzha County, Tongren City, Zeku County, and Henan County. Simultaneously, in collaboration with the China Charity Federation Shoucai Love Fund, the Sixth Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital, Beijing Chaoyang Hospital affiliated with Capital Medical University, Shenzhen Children's Hospital, and Shenzhen University Affiliated South China Hospital, the foundation carried out screening initiatives for CHD, cleft lip/palate, and orthopaedic deformities in Yinchuan and Shizuishan, offering free screenings for children aged 0 to 18.
Through collective efforts, 139 children were screened on-site in Huangnan Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with 15 identified as urgently requiring surgical treatment for CHD. In the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, a day of continuous examinations completed on-site screenings for 165 children, 13 of whom were in critical need of surgery. Some of the children diagnosed and deemed eligible during these medical outreach activities will receive surgical treatment arranged and funded by the "Shengye Light · Childlike Brightness" Children's Medical Assistance Program.
Notably, 13 children in urgent need of CHD surgery identified during the Qinghai screenings have already successfully undergone operations at TEDA International Cardiovascular Hospital in Tianjin and have since recovered and returned home.
Xin Xin, a previously assisted child, regained a healthy "heart" with the help of the "Shengye Light · Childlike Brightness" program. Filled with care and hope, volunteers from the SY Public Welfare Foundation revisited Xin Xin's home. Recalling her as a 5-year-old at the time of her surgery in 2023, she has now grown into a first-grade student, her tiny frame bearing the marks of time's passage. Eagerly, Xin Xin showcased newly learned texts and dance performances from school. Overjoyed at her full recovery, her parents expressed deep gratitude to the foundation.
The surgical costs for these children were covered by the "Shengye Light · Childlike Brightness" Children's Medical Assistance Program, initiated by the SY Public Welfare Foundation. Rated as an AAA-level social organization, the foundation was established by SY Holdings private limited (Stock Code: 6069.HK) and focuses on three areas: "Care for Vulnerable Children," "Rural Revitalization Support," and the "Youth Inspiration Program." Targeting children aged 0–18 from underprivileged families suffering from CHD, orthopaedic deformities, or cleft lip/palate, the foundation collaborates with local governments and NGOs to organize expert teams from partner hospitals, providing free screenings and surgical funding for eligible children. To date, over 180 children have received assistance.
A representative from SY Public Welfare Foundation stated: "A child's health is the hope of a family and the future of society. We will continue to deepen our efforts in caring for vulnerable children, expanding the 'Shengye Light · Childlike Brightness' program to more remote regions to benefit more CHD patients. At the same time, we will further refine the program's service system to offer comprehensive support to affected children and their families. We believe that through collective societal efforts, more children with CHD can regain health and embark on a brighter life journey."
Moving forward, SY Public Welfare Foundation will remain committed to supporting the growth and development of children with CHD, illuminating more hopeful "hearts" with love and action to safeguard their healthy futures.
